Three Tips for Getting Through Airport Security Quickly

Based out of sunny South Florida, Club Newport offers travelers access to significant savings through an easy-to-navigate members-only portal and a dedicated concierge service. By taking the hassle out of planning and booking, club members are enjoying the benefits of more frequent travel.

Whether the destination is domestic or international, every traveler must go through the security line before boarding the plane. The process is simple but can quickly become a daunting one as a line of impatient or unprepared passengers begins to form. Here are three tips from the Club’s concierge professionals for getting through more quickly.

1. Minimize metal. Keys, jewelry, and belt buckles can trip the metal detector at the security line, so do your best to remove those objects and place them in the screening bin before you’re called. Wear as little metal as possible while traveling and be sure to consider your actual clothing as metallic threading in garments can also trip the alarm.

2. Wear appropriate footwear. With some exception, most travelers will have to remove their shoes before going through the screening process. By wearing sandals, loafers, or other shoes that easily slip on and off, you’ll make this security step a speedy one.

3. Consider traveler programs. Frequent travelers may want to look into trusted programs operated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and US Customs and Border Patrol. TSA Precheck, for example, allows program participants to keep their shoes on while they pass through special security gates, leave on a light jacket, and even keep laptops in carrying cases!
