Three Hiking Trails in New Zealand

Through its professional staff and partnerships with leading industry organizations such as SaveOn Resorts, Club Newport offers discounted transportation and housing options for once-in-a-lifetime travel opportunities. The Club’s vacation membership holders enjoy access to a range of experiences, from relaxing at tropical resorts to hiking through the exotic landscapes of countries like New Zealand.

One of the world’s most breathtaking countries, New Zealand’s natural beauty largely became familiar to global audiences through Hollywood films. Despite its small size, New Zealand boasts a range of topography and landscapes that provide abundant opportunities for hikers to explore. Here are Club Newport’s top three picks:

- Abel Tasman Coast Track: Considered one of the best beach hikes in the country, this trail follows more than 24 miles of sandy beaches and rocky cliffs in the Abel Tasman National Park on the South Island. Though not overly strenuous, completing the journey can take two or more days to complete.

- Milford Track: This popular 33-mile trail follows glacial valleys and heavily wooded mountains to one of New Zealand’s best-known natural attractions, Sutherland Falls. The trail runs through an area known for substantial rainfall each year, however, so be sure to schedule your trip between October and May when the trail is open.

- Heaphy Track: Popular with both beginning and experienced hikers, this trail runs for nearly 50 miles through some of the most remote landscape in New Zealand. Hikers pass through palm forests, limestone cliffs, and other varied natural features giving trailblazers the best taste of the country’s varied landscape.
