Staying Comfortable on a Long Flight

From its headquarters on the beaches of sunny South Florida, Club Newport provides its members with customizable and quality travel at reduced rates. To date, subscribers have saved over $29 million across more than 400,000 reservations booked through the Club’s exclusive portal and its highly skilled concierge team. With the additional benefits of guest passes, bonus resort stays, and reward points, members are finding quality travel both more affordable and more enjoyable.

When planning their dream vacation, travelers easily envision beautiful scenery, wild adventures, and romantic evenings. Few, however, think of sitting on a plane for several hours en route. While the flight may not be as luxurious as what’s waiting at their destination, there are a number of strategies to help make the journey a more comfortable one. Here is the Club’s top three:

1. Stay hydrated. Long flights can lead to dehydration, so it’s important to drink plenty of water throughout the flight. Some experts recommend drinking at least eight ounces of water for every hour on a flight.

2. Bring a pillow and an eye mask. Although airplane seats can be reclined to some extent, sleeping can be rather difficult on long plane rides. By bringing a travel pillow, passengers can greatly reduce neck strain while an eye mask can block out the overhead lights and the glow of your neighbors’ digital devices. Consider adding earplugs or headphones for a little extra peace.

3. Stay active. Stiff joints, aches and pains, and even deep vein thrombosis can all be caused by sitting for extended periods of time. To help prevent this, be sure to stand, stretch, and move about the cabin as frequently as possible
